In the context of urban planning, the reconstruction of the main railway station and its transformation into a modern transport hub draws the attention to its surrounding area. The large square in front of the historic station building will become one of Augsburg's defining features. Together with the reconstruction of the Bahnhofsstraße it closes the gap to the historic centre. The realisation of the project will include several stages between 2021 and 2025. Construction cost approx. € 12 million.
