Versmannkai, Hamburg

The western Versmannkai is the first completed section of the quay promenade along the former harbor basin in the Baakenhafen district. Large-format concrete slabs extend the existing quayside. In order to enlarge the comfortably passable area, sawn granite paving connects to it, which merges into unprocessed paving. Gleditsia trees provide shade along the new flood protection wall, seating groups and large-format wooden furniture become meeting points. Former harbor cranes structure the long promenade as landmarks and remind of the former use.
